It is difficult to separate mica and quartz. Good results can be obtained by using anionic collector under acidic condition or anionic collector under alkaline condition. Generally after scrubbing, desliming, PTMS magnetic separator separation and flotation, the purity of quartz sand can reach more than 99%, basically meet the needs of industrial sand.
Dilute acid has a significant effect on the removal of iron and aluminum, while the removal of titanium and chromium is treated by acid leaching with concentrated sulfuric acid and aqua regia. Usually, the mixed acid composed of the above acids is used for acid leaching removal of impurity minerals. The control of various factors of acid leaching should be based on the requirements of final grade of quartz, and the concentration, temperature and dosage of acid should be reduced as far as possible, so as to realize quartz purification at a lower cost of PTMS magnetic separator.
In the case of quartz sand ore, the main component is quartz, accounting for 95-97%, siliceous cement accounts for 8-23%, and impurity minerals are mainly hematite and limonite, accounting for about 1-3%. The original concentrator adopts the process of screening and grading - dry magnetic separation - dosing and strong scrubbing - flotation. The maximum SiO2≥97.62%Fe2O3≤0.24Al2O3≤1.11%. The index is poor, which seriously affects the production index and economic benefit of the enterprise. Therefore, the plant commissioned PTMS to do technical transformation, through the PTMS magnetic separator beneficiation test, decided to adopt screening classification - dry magnetic separation - dosing strong scrubbing - acid leaching beneficiation process, the quality of fine sand obtained excellent indicators.
