Purification of quartz sand by PTMS magnetic separator is a highly difficult separation technology to remove a small amount or trace impurities in quartz and obtain refined quartz sand or high purity quartz. The grade of SiO2 in quartz decreases with the grain size of quartz becoming fine, while the grade of magazine minerals such as iron and aluminum is on the contrary. This phenomenon is particularly obvious in quartz with a lot of clay properties. Therefore, it is very necessary to carry out water separation and classification desliming of quartz ore before being selected, and the quartz sand effect of PTMS magnetic separator is also more obvious.
The chemical composition of quartz ore is: SiO279.38%, Fe2O3 1.68%, AL2O311.28%, the particle size composition of -0.1mm particle content is 27.65%. After pre-washing and grading desliming of raw ore, the grade of SiO2 increases to 86.36%, Fe2O3 decreases to 0.49% and AL2O3 decreases to 6.79%. The purification effect of impurity removal PTMS magnetic separator is significant. Water washing and stage desliming, as a kind of pretreatment method before ore selection, have been widely used earlier, but the removal effect of iron and adhesive impurities on quartz surface is not significant.
