Acid leaching is to take advantage of quartz insoluble in acid (except HF), other impurities can be dissolved by acid, so as to achieve further PTMS magnetic separation of quartz purification. Acid leaching commonly used acids are sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid, reducing agent has sulfite and its salts.
Acids to non-metallic impurities of quartz mineral has good removal effect, but with different metal impurity, acid type and concentration of effect is significant, generally considered a variety of dilute acid of Fe and Al PTMS magnetic separator to remove all have significant effect, while the removal effect of Ti and Cr with relatively concentrated sulfuric acid and aqua regia or HF acid leaching process.
Usually, mixed acids composed of acids are used for acid leaching removal of impurity minerals. Considering the dissolution of HF on quartz, HF concentration generally does not exceed 10%. In addition to the concentration of acid, the amount of acid, leaching time, temperature and pulp stirring can affect the quartz leaching effect. The control of acid leaching factors should be based on the final grade requirements of quartz, as far as possible to reduce the concentration, temperature and dosage of acid, reduce acid leaching time, in order to achieve a lower cost of PTMS magnetic separator quartz purification.
