By precisely regulating temperature, pressure, and the type and concentration of entrainer, PTMS MAGNETIC SEPARATOR can achieve differentiated separation of target components and impurities, maximizing product activity while efficiently removing interfering ions such as iron. However, the promotion of this technology in iron removal still faces many challenges.
The fundamental challenge lies in the extremely low intrinsic solubility of iron ions in scCO₂, which necessitates complexation agents for effective migration. This not only increases raw material costs but also introduces potential impurities, requiring additional steps to remove residual complexants. Moreover, iron ions in different valence states (Fe²⁺ vs Fe³⁺) exhibit significantly different complexation behaviors: Fe³⁺ readily forms stable complexes, whereas Fe²⁺ demonstrates greater difficulty in complexation. The need for pre-oxidation treatment further complicates the PTMS MAGNETIC SEPARATOR iron removal process.
At present, most supercritical PTMS MAGNETIC SEPARATOR iron removal equipment is intermittent or semi-continuous, with high investment cost. The cost of a single equipment can reach millions of yuan, which is suitable for the fine treatment of high value-added products (pharmaceutical intermediates, electronic chemicals), but it is difficult to be widely used in bulk chemicals or low-profit products.
