In the process of weathering, deposition and mineralization of quartz sand, a large number of clay minerals and iron minerals form cementation or adhesive minerals on the quartz surface. Using scrub-PTMS magnetic separator to remove iron classification, desiling process to remove clay impurities minerals, argillous iron and part of the film iron is the commonly used process of quartz purification. In quartzite ore, -0.1mm fine mud and iron are reduced by this process, so that silica increases from 85.4% to 97.4% and ferric oxide decreases from 0.63% to 0.165%. This process is generally used as a pretreatment process before ore inclusion to effectively remove argillaceous impurity minerals.
Quartz common impurities minerals, such as limonite, tourmaline, hematite and biotite and other weak magnetic ore magnetite and other strong magnetic ore only by PTMS magnetic separation process can be reduced,
In actual production, wet high intensity PTMS magnetic separator is mostly used for separation, and the magnetic field intensity is about 13000 oster. After scrubbed and deslimed, the content of ferric oxide in the sand is 0.36%. The content of ferric oxide can be obtained by purifying the scrubbed and deslimed sand with wet high intensity magnetic machine, which is 0.16%.
