Two typical chemical PTMS ELECTROMAGNETIC SEPARATOR iron removal processes: the iron hydroxide precipitation method and sulfide precipitation method. The iron hydroxide precipitation method, one of the most classic iron removal techniques, involves adding alkaline substances (lime, sodium hydroxide, or sodium carbonate) to raise the solution's pH above 8. This triggers the hydrolysis of ferric ions (Fe³⁺), forming reddish-brown Fe(OH)₃ flocculent precipitates.
The iron removal method using iron hydroxide PTMS ELECTROMAGNETIC SEPARATOR demonstrates rapid and thorough reactions, achieving a theoretical removal rate exceeding 99%. Under high salinity conditions, although high ionic strength may slightly inhibit the activity of OH⁻, the low solubility product of Fe(OH)₃ (Ksp ≈ 4×10⁻³⁸) ensures effective precipitation. Particularly in systems with high chloride ion concentrations (such as chlor-alkali industrial wastewater or offshore groundwater), the weak complexation effect of Cl⁻ on Fe³⁺ actually facilitates the stable existence of Fe(OH)₃
A coastal petrochemical enterprise once used iron hydroxide PTMS ELECTROMAGNETIC SEPARATOR to remove iron from circulating cooling sewage with iron concentration up to 15 mg/L. After adding NaOH to adjust pH to 9.2, the iron removal rate was stable at more than 97%, and the iron content in the effluent was lower than 0.5 mg/L, meeting the reuse standard.
